Just in time

We RadioLondra are really “Just in time” wizards!
But this time there was too much optimization, indeed. And lack of coordination.

Just loaded the site, than discovered another RadioLondra Band, this time in Bari or something like that in south Italy. They’ve already recorded an album and they have already a label to produce it. And they play some kind of tropical rock, which after all fits the name still less than us.

So we must change name. Luckily netsons.org offers free hosting and I had not paid an Euro for an account that in just two days has become useless.

But this at least confirms that information sooner or later just happens. Maybe sometimes it just ought to be helped happening!

RadioLondra OnLine

Today I’ve loaded rhe new site of my band, RadioLondra, which takes its name from the BBC radio programmes which broadcasted war bullettins in italian language during 2^nd W.W.. Italian People listened to this Radio to obtain trustworthy information about the real development of battles and the movements of the fronts, in contrast to the propagandistic and enthusiastic lies of the official axis’ media.

Drivel: a journal client for the GNOME desktop.

Today I found this nice application. Drivel (A journal client for the GNOME desktop.) which I’am now using to post entries blog engines including Advogato, Atom, Blogger, LiveJournal, and MovableType (which allows to send entries to wordpress).

Hot-Babe

This is the description of hot-babe you can find on the program’s homepage.

Hot-babe is a small graphical utility which displays the system activity in a very special way. When the CPU is idle, it displays a dressed girl, and when the activity goes up, as the temperature increases, the girl begins to undress, to finish totally naked when the system activity reaches 100%.

It’s a very nice way of keeping control of your CPU usage, even if it occupies a little too much of your precious and useful screen surface. And in the end it’s also somewhat distracting.

Semi-transparent, unreadable window using Compiz (for the very first time, for the very first app)

Today I tried to install ymol, a molecular visualisation and animation program for the X Window System, on my Ubuntu Edgy.

The compilation and installation was well, surprisingly when I launched the program i got a white windows, except for the title bar. To say the truth some parts of the window, in particular the menu bar become transparent. It was the first time it happened me, and I thought it could be correlated to Compiz. In fact when I compiled ymol on Dapper everything was OK.

Hello, salve

This is the first post on this blog, just to say what I think I’ll write here.

My nickname is Desmoteo, which finds its origins in the fusion between the Desmo distribution of Ducati’s engines, and my name, Matteo.

I live in Turin, Italy, the city of the 2006 winter Olympics games.

Most of all I’m interested in science, in particular physics and informatics, so I will bother you with posts about physics news and discoveries as well as news from the Open Source Communities. In some cases i will also try to write about (mostly Italian) politics and other arguments which irritate me, such as censorship and limitations to expression freedom, both in Italy and in other countries, or clerical interferences in the “Res Publica” perpetuated by certain “Vatican Talibans”. In this second case my posts will probably degenerate in a personal vent, so I apologize in advance.

I also apologize for my English, and in fact I’ll try to write in this language just to make some writing exercise.
